pumpkins

Ryan and I have been married for 4 years and we have never gotten pumpkins for Halloween. Mostly because we've always lived in apartments or condos and have not had a visible porch to display them on, but also, I hate carving pumpkins. It's messy and it takes a bit of creativity that I lack. BUT, I was determined to get and carve pumpkins this year for Brady's first Halloween...who cares if he doesn't know what's going on, he'll have pictures to show that we celebrated the holiday with him.

So yesterday we went out to find a pumpkin patch:

Brady really didn't know what was going on but he was happy to play (and attempt to eat) the straw that was all over the ground.

He got lost in a sea of pumpkins :)

Today we decided to carve the pumpkins. It was messy, but it was kind of fun too.

Once the tops were off, we got Brady in on the action. We wanted to see if he would be interested in the pumpkin at all. He WAS! He had his hand in the pumpkin before I even had him sitting down.

 So curious....
And of course, it went STRAIGHT to the mouth. Good thing dad was there to intervene.

I don't have a finished photo of the pumpkins, but they turned out great and we had fun making a memory :)
