We moved

There has been A LOT going on in our lives over the past month. One of the biggest things is that we moved out of our perfect little house in Bennington to an apartment in Omaha (just a few minutes away from the house). The owners of the house we were renting decided to sell it and we aren't sure what our future plans are, so we weren't comfortable moving into another house and signing another long term lease. We decided it would be best to just put everything in storage and move into an apartment for a few months until we have a better grasp on what the future holds for us.

It was hard packing up the house because we've loved living there so much and were so comfortable there. We were sad to leave our neighbors and all the comforts that you find in a house, but not an apartment (our own washer/dryer, back yard, garage!!!, etc.). The hardest part of packing up though was the fact that Ryan was out of town for the 3 weeks in a row leading up to the move, and before that we were in CA for 2 weeks, so really I had to do most of the packing alone. Luckily I have some awesome friends in the area and they volunteered to take Brady last week for play dates so that I could have some uninterrupted packing/cleaning time. I think he had his most fun/social week in a long time!

We moved this past weekend, so we're officially out of the house and into the apartment. I kind of hate it! We're in an upstairs unit and you have to unlock a door to get into the building and then climb stairs to our apartment. It is so hard to do that with a 2 year old. I'm used to getting him out of the car and letting him run into the house. Luckily this is not a long term deal. If we were going to be in an apartment long term, I would INSIST on a first floor unit. Imagine how much MORE difficult it will be when we have another baby someday. I don't know how people do it!

The apartment itself isn't terrible. It's actually quite spacious and while it has fewer rooms than our house (no family room, office, or basement) the rooms it has are larger than they were in our house, including the kitchen. So that's nice. There is a funny smell in here though, which I find quite annoying, but since we're only going to live here for a few months I guess I can deal with it. I keep joking with Ryan that I'm going to go on vacation to CA for a few months until we figure out our next move :) He said he wouldn't blame me!

Anyway, that's one of the crazy things that's been going on in our lives. I'll fill you all in on more later.

Oh, and if you're keeping track, this is our SIXTH move in our 6 years of marriage, with our SEVENTH move most likely coming by summer. You'd think we love moving or something, but we definitely don't!

  1. Moving SUCKS! I totally understand how much of a pain it is. We've moved 4 times in 6 months but I can't imagine doing it with a kid. Eek! It's hard and I hope everything works out for you guys in the near future. And I don't blame you for wanting to run away to CA for a few months. We are hoping to get down there soon too! : )

  2. That long term California vacation sounds great! (... it's probably what I would do...) Good luck.
